Statement of Faith

As I walked along, I found a coin;
Each side bore certain words.
"Obey Your God" the one side said,
The other "Trust The Lord".

I wondered who had lost it there
So I took it to the Lord.
He looked at it, then said to me,
"Dear child, the coin is yours."

"I gave it to you long ago
When you first came to believe,
And told you if you heeded it
Then you would walk with me."

"At first you kept it with you;
It never left your sight.
You treasured it so dearly
And held it day and night."

"But then one day you lost it,
After guarding it so long.
You gave it up for worldy things,
Which now you know was wrong."

"I'll give it back to you again
If you'll turn back to Me.
Again I tell you, heed its words
And you will walk with Me."

1991 J M McIntosh

Now therefore if you will indeed obey My
voice and keep my covenant, then you shall
be a special treasure to me above all people;
for all the earth is mine. (Exodus 19:5)
